ABOUT THE ARTIST (AKA ME)
|
For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed getting my hands dirty with anything creative. When I had time or the drive I would
pick a project, get a couple of books, and try to learn all I could. Whether it was drawing, sewing, writing, painting, beading,
working with leather, or tattooing, I wanted to learn because creating (and expanding my knowledge base) in one capacity or
another was, and still is, a necessary part of my life.
Because It never occurred to me that I could actually make a living with my art I continued as I had . . . I was home schooling my
daughter, working dead-end jobs, and picking up classes when I could at the local college. Eventually I was accepted into the
Registered Nursing Program. Because of the work load of classes and the caring of my household, I had little time in which to
work. So with the help of a couple of tattoo artist, I began tattooing for a little extra money.
By the time I was half way through my nursing clinical, I had decided I could not honestly see myself dealing with hospital politics
for the next 30 years. While the work was great and the interaction with the patients was awesome, I just hated the stress of
everything else that typically accompanies such work. So, I decided to leave school with a 2yr. Science Degree and make my
living Tattooing. My husband and daughter have been extremely supportive. And when one truly thinks about it, What more could
I ask for. I have a great family, a successful business, and I get to spend my days doing something that I love!
